The Full Length Album

For over 7 years, Sam has been ‘on tour’ playing nearly 1000 gigs across the UK & Europe. Starting piano lessons aged 4 with a jazz musician, he was exposed to swing and soul and began writing his own songs. Nearly 20 years later, his song-writing combines these early influences with meaningful, thought-provoking and often positive lyrics with a reggae and folk feel. He’s supported musicians including Mike Love and Rae Morris, played the UK’s top festivals and headlined shows in Bristol’s best music venues including The Fleece & O2 Academy Bristol. His passion for music and positive outlook makes for a really engaging, uplifting and soul-soothing live performance.

Highlights have included playing to 5000 people at Concert At The Kings 2017, playing a 50-date tour with shows in Ireland, France and Romania, supporting world renown Hawaiian Reggae star Mike Love twice and performing an original song Harbour Masters House live on BBC Radio 2.

Festivals performed at:
– Glastonbury Festival
– Boomtown Fair
– Acoustic Festival of Britain
– Castlepalooza Festival (Ireland)
– Concert At The Kings
– Samphire Festival
– How The Light Gets In Festival
– Free Harmony Festival
– Off Grid Festival

Music venues performed at:
– O2 Academy Bristol
– The 100 Club, London
– The Oliver Plunkett, Cork
– Mama Stones, Exeter
– The Mojo Club, Bucharest
– The Cheese & Graine, Frome
– The Red Brick Building, Glastonbury
– Chapel Arts, Bath

Starting out as a solo act in 2011, he has since teamed up with 3 fantastic musicians who create a really spectacular live show. The 4-piece band known as ‘Verdisa’ blend electric guitars, keyboards and harmonies with a solid groove which never ceases to get people on their feet, singing and dancing with a smile. They have played festivals up and down the country and their popularity is growing thanks to airtime on BBC Radio 2 and some great youtube videos. Link here

Sam has 2 albums and 1 EP available to stream and buy on all music platforms and as physical CD’s. Verdisa have been back into studio to record a new single which will be released this year.

In Conversation with Sam Evans – words & Photography by Hannah Woolley:

“Classic vibe without being too retro. You’re not trying, you just are.”
Steve Henwood, Bath Fringe Music Director

“It just sounds great …. It’s a beautiful combination of voices”
Claire Balding, BBC Radio 2

“We rarely come across a band that impress us and make us feel more happy to be alive”
Mike Love, Musician –

“The perfect blend of blues, jazz, funk and soul!”
Graham Maclean, Ents24

“Super catchy tunes delivered with a soulful verve that’s simply infectious.”
Dave Henderson, Williams Green Stage at Glastonbury

“Fantastically talented ….. going to go to some great places”
Elise Rayner, BBC Radio Bristol

“Sam Evans’ music is catchy and optimistic – the perfect antidote to a dark, wet, January day” Richard Pitt, BBC Introducing in the West

“From working as a duo to, now, a full band, Sam Evans demonstrates a musical maturity and sensibility far in excess of his actual age. His feel for a wide range of music is extraordinary: Sam and the band never perform without impressing and often astonishing listeners. A rare blend of musical integrity and a real performing presence – pure enjoyment on both sides of the stage!”
Ric Davison, Keynsham Music Festival Organiser

“They’re the type of people that were simply born to write and perform music. The music is passionate and delicate at the same time, technically proficient, with actual (and great) lyrics, and most of all they can relate to the crowd”
Tzeeeac Review – Romania

“Juno was one of the most vastly underrated alternative rock /indie albums of 2017. The synergetic textures of the instrumentals and the vast dynamics of the vocals makes Verdisa’s music very distinctive.”
MK Jong – Facebook Review

If you’re a venue/festival/promotor who’s looking for a bigger sound than just Sam, but you don’t have the space/budget for the full band, you can also book Sam as a duo or trio.

A message from Sam:

I’m very lucky to have been involved in some amazing projects over the last few years. One of my most adventurous and rewarding has been organising Free Harmony Festival whilst playing shows up and down the country, and across Europe Solo and with my band Verdisa.

I would describe myself as a self employed musician, and over the last 6 years my work has mainly been performing original music at venues in the UK & Europe, busking on the streets, hosting open mics and jam sessions, leading singing workshops, organising events, teaching one-to-one music lessons as well as some free lance gardening work. Music is my passion and writing and performing songs is what I love. Since I began writing music, I’ve released 6 CD’s, my most recent is ‘Scrapbook Of The Soul’ which you can stream for free here. With Verdisa I have also released ‘Awake EP’ and ‘Juno’ which can be listened to on Spotify (and other music platforms). If you want to listen, support or even purchase my music you can buy the album physically via Bandcamp.
