About

Sam Evans is a singer-songwriter from Somerset in the South West of England, creating uplifting original music shaped by a lifetime around live music, community and the outdoors.

Growing up within reach of both Glastonbury Festival and Bristol’s rich musical scene, Sam was drawn into music early — first through piano and a love of jazz and blues, before picking up the guitar and beginning to perform at local open mics as a teenager. What started as solo performances quickly grew into bands, original songs and years spent playing anywhere that would have live music.

More than a decade later, Sam has performed over 1,000 shows across the UK and Europe — from intimate acoustic rooms and community events to festival stages and full-band performances. In 2024, he won the Pilton Stage competition, earning a slot at Glastonbury Festival.

His music blends folk, soul, roots and acoustic influences with memorable melodies and an uplifting spirit — somewhere between singer-songwriter storytelling, festival energy and the feeling of being outdoors with good people.

Whether performing solo or with a band behind him, Sam’s focus remains the same: writing songs that connect people and leave them feeling a little lighter than before.

FULL BIOGRAPHY

Sam Evans is a singer-songwriter from Somerset in the South West of England, creating uplifting original music inspired by connection, community and the natural world.

Growing up within reach of Glastonbury Festival and Bristol’s rich musical culture, music was never far away. Sam’s earliest performances were at the piano, exploring jazz and blues influences before later picking up the guitar and beginning to perform original songs at local open mic nights. What started as a love of songwriting quickly grew into bands, recordings and years spent playing anywhere that would have live music.

Over the last decade, Sam has performed more than 1,000 live shows across the UK and Europe — from pubs and cafés to festival stages and full-band performances. In 2024, he reached a major milestone by winning the Pilton Stage competition and earning a performance slot at Glastonbury Festival.

Away from the stage, Sam’s life looks very different from the traditional image of a touring musician. He is a husband, father and runs his own gardening business alongside music — a balance that has shaped both his perspective and songwriting. A lifelong love of nature, walking and growing things continues to influence his creative world and appears throughout his lyrics and projects.

Alongside performing, Sam has developed a passion for recording and production, increasingly creating music from his home studio and exploring new ways to bring songs to life independently. Whether capturing stripped-back acoustic performances or building fuller arrangements, songwriting remains at the centre of everything he does.

A significant turning point came after losing a close friend to suicide, an experience that deepened Sam’s awareness of mental health and strengthened his belief in the importance of community, conversation and connection. More recently this inspired involvement with the Mendip Mental Health Hike and new music exploring themes of movement, hope and perspective.

Musically, Sam’s sound blends folk, soul, roots and acoustic influences with memorable melodies and a warm, uplifting energy. Whether performing solo or with a band behind him, his aim remains simple: to create songs that help people feel connected — to themselves, to each other and to the world around them.

“From working as a duo to, now, a full band, Sam Evans demonstrates a musical maturity and sensibility far in excess of his actual age. His feel for a wide range of music is extraordinary: Sam and the band never perform without impressing and often astonishing listeners. A rare blend of musical integrity and a real performing presence – pure enjoyment on both sides of the stage!”
